1.The hem must skim the ground The biggest (and most common) mistake with this look is wearing jeans that are too short. The hedress shoesm should skim the ground, so make sure when you go shopping you take a pair of shoes with you. This way you can work out exactly the right length for your height. 2. High heels are essential Bell-bottoms and kick-flares need to be worn with high heels. They just do. The silhouette looks best with height and it allows them to hang correctly. Platform and wedge styles work best with this look. Stilettosnot so much and please casual shoes, no sneakers. Ever. 3. Choose your look Remember this is not a dress-up party and its important to keep the look modern. Theres nothing wrong with a nod to the 70s but make it contemporary with your styling. Try teaming your jeans with tops that are tucked into the waist a T-shirt, a silk blouse, a v-neck sweater – then layer it up with a blazer that cuts just on the top of the hip bone. Or try a longer line blouse or tunic top that lls to mid-thigh and then team with a knee-length coat or short, cropped jacket. 4. Body shape matters Unless you have super long, lean legs steer clear of proper, all-out bell-bottom styles. Instead try jeans that are skinny through the thigh with a flare that starts just at the top of the calf. Most cuts have a high waist but if you have curvy hips opt for a style that sits below the belly button, this will help balance the leg out. dress shoesPixie Lott pardrinks her marks on the seagullblest,

Heres what readers have had to say so r. Why not add your thoughts below,or debate this issue live on our message boards.

The comments below have been moderated in advance.

Pixies very pretty but why must she always wear such dorky shoes? Im not saying she has to wear shion-victim heels like the women in the bottom picture but surely she can find some nicer ones than those…she looks like shes wearing her dads shoes!!!- Gethin, Cardiff, Wales, 17/9/2011 20:29Shes wearing brogues which are very shionable/trendy at the moment – not dorky in the slightest! I think they look great with that dress!

– Kirsty, Glasgow, Scotland, 18/9/2011 01:44

Shes lost a lot of weight. She still looks very healthy but I think she looked better before, her figure really emphasised her dancing background.

– SB, UK, 18/9/2011 01:38

collar would look so much better sewn on but otherwise cute outfit

– Emily, Ireland, 18/9/2011 00:38

Although these pics no doubt date from September 2011, theres something Sixties London about this young lady. Very pretty. I would.

WOODHAVEN — By the end of the month, the city will be booming with several new stores.

There are five new stores opening next to Target on Allen Road. They are Ulta Beauty, Famous Footwear, Rue 21, Dress Barn and Five Below.

Ulta Beauty is a retailer that also sells salon products. Famous Footwear sells brand-name shoes for men, women and children. Rue 21 and Five Below are directed toward preteens and teens. Dress Barn offers women’s apparel, especially dress clothes.

The opening day for all of the stores except Ulta is expected to be Sept. 23. Ulta plans to be open in early October.

The parking lot for Target and the new stores is being redeveloped to improve traffic circulation.

I’m excited about all of them, Riverview resident Kenneth Reames said.

It shows the economy is coming back slowly, but surely.

Downriver resident Jean Cook said she is excited about all of the stores because she likes shopping and now she won’t have to drive r.

Julie Bell has two specific stores she is excited for.

I am very excited for Dress Barn and Ulta to arrive Downriver, she said.Continued…

She said they provide nice women’s clothing and amazing hair and makeup supplies.

An Aldi grocery store is going in next to Dunkin’ Donuts on West Road. City officials are hoping that it will be opening by the end of the year.

Looking at Woodhaven, it’s an oasis in regards to development because we’re seeing such a variety in commercial development, said John Enos, city director of building, planning and development.

We plan to get these stores open for the Christmas shopping season.

Sneaky’s Bar also is expected to open within the next month in the area. It has been working on the signage. It will take the spot of the former Ground Round restaurant on Allen near West Road.

(Sneaky’s) is really going to be a neat local restaurant and entertainment spot, Enos said.

This spring, a Five Guys Burgers and Fries opened along Allen Road. The restaurant chain keeps the menu short, but offers enough toppings for there to be more than 250,000 ways to order a burger from a trans-t free menu.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar recently renovated its building.

Farther down West Road, closer to City Hall, a Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches is in the works.

Enos said the city has heard from several parties interested in a variety of sites that are available. A medical office and a Buflo Wild Wings Grill & Bar are strong possibilities.Continued…

Woodhaven has the infrastructure and capacity, and a process that is not the typical red-tape bureaucratic process, to develop, he said.

Michigan has been in a rut with development. It’s nice to be involved in this. I’m proud to say we have a very professional process for development here.

Enos added that he has a goal to have a ntastic, new town development in the land around the Emagine Theatre off Allen Road.

That could be a great destination point for the Downriver community, Enos said.

Pedestrian access and sit-down restaurants are additions he hopes to see.
