The rubber clogs are the shoe of choice for many hospital staff because they are comfortable and easy to clean.
But health chiefs have issued an alert banning the footwear – because it does not offer protection from sharp objects.
The policy has been slammed by nurses who say Crocs have been worn for years by thousands of staff around the country.
A nurse working in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan said: We work 12-and-a-half-hour shifts and Crocs help get us through the day
Crocs can be cleaned if a blood spillage occurred. Docomfortable shoes they expect us to wear blood-stained trainers.
It would be interesting to see what the public think of this as its their NHS. We should be more concerned with care delivery.
Im sure no-one really cares whats on our feet as we dont look at patients and their milies and judge them on what theyre wearing.
Hospitals around the world, including in the US, Canada, Sweden and Austria, have introduced bans on staff wearing Croc-style shoes because of safety concerns.
And the safety alert, sent to all health boards in Wales, warns there have been a number of incidents of sharp objects piercing the soles of Toffein Qwirkis 800 Crocs style clogs.
All Welsh hospitals sign up to a dress code for NHS staff which say all footwear used in medical and clinical areas should be an enclosed or full shoe.
Peter Meredith-Smith, director of the Royal College of Nursing in Wales, said: Shoes are part of the uniform.
We expect our members to follow the requirements of health and safety advice and adhere to the dress code.
We have been party to the development of that dress code, which is based on evidence and good sense,7.19profile and topic. as have other trade unions.
Ruth Walker, executive director of nursing at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, said: The comfort and working environment of staff is important but safety is a paramount concern.
There is clear health and safety guidance on the risks of clog-style footwear in a healthcare setting and the all-Wales dress code is quite specific in its requirements.
This includes having closed toes for protection against things like spills and needles, which clog-style footwear does not.

As someone who had basically the same surgery, the worst thing you can do is to stand still fcomfortable shoesor two hours. I noticed Bachman had on low wide based heels. Is she having a hard time standing in her shoes too?

The stand out shoe trends for 2011 are the kitten heel, tcomfortable shoeshe clog and the wedge. To be honest, the kitten heel as well as the clog are not within my shion inspirations but the wedge most certainly is. If you are like me and like to take the catwalk to the street in that stompy, assertive shion, then this is the shoe for you. And a bonus to this style is that, for multiple seasons it constantly creeps back as a shion staple. Credit it to the comfort ctor or to blogger Rumi Neely of Fashion toast.com, but it seems that the wedge has claimed its place at the top of this years trend ladder yet again.
The idea that you can have a high shoe thats comfortable, creates an illusion of thinner ankles and creates better foot support seems incredible if not unbelievable. No longer just a casual shoe, you can have wedges dressed up or down in various styles like peep toes, booties, espar-drilles or platforms. That is why millions of women all over the world seem to have a pair of wedges hiding somewhere.
When you think about the wedge you immediately go to Salvatore Ferragmo. He is most often credited with inventing the wedge in 1936. And boy oh boy! does this shoe keep reinventing itself! To understand me better take one look at YSLs metallic wedge or Alexander McQueens wedges that are so intricate that you want to put them on your mantlepiece as art items rather than on your feet. I would exhaust my word limit if I listed the designers doing this shoe right now but Lanvin, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Fendi, Derek Lam and Chanel are just a few. And the variation is just as enormous. Tired of minimalism, Prada went bold and sporty, Fendi went colourblock, YSL as usual went chic and Rodarte went sculpted. Others went tribal, geometric or punk.
Whatever the style this years shionistas feet from Paris to New York will be flirting with the wedge. The wedge has come a long way its presence felt since the late 1930s. However, it was in seventies when it really claimed its throne. So it makes complete sense to have this trend this season where 70s is the time reference for so many designers. With palazzo pants, bootleg jeans,best casual. big sun hats and plastic jewellery, it makes perfect sense that a wedge would be thrown right into the mix.
If you can justify spending big ce money on a pair of shoes and if you have brave feet, I would suggest my own objects of desire like YSL, Fendi and Rodarte. They are all so unique, breathtakingly beautiful and, therefore, footworthy. But you could also have a great pair of wedges for much, much less at Zara, Jeffery Campbell, Steve Madden, Aldo and all the reputed online stores.
Shoe trends come and go from the kitten heel to the stiletto to the flat boot and the clog. But shoes are more than just an instrument to move around in. They represent different times in a womans life from economic hardship to feminism to uality to liberation. So, why not slip into a wedge and feel the sense of liberation of the seventies woman!

THE Aussie Ugg has been given an all-American makeover to promote our much-loved sheepskin shoe-wear in the US.

While keeping with the company’s trademark sheepskin material, the styles the gridiron star is seen modelling are a r cry from the furry footwear worn on a wintery night in.
Ugg’s Fall Collection features a range of outdoor boots, urban shoes and slippers.
They’re so comfortable when you put them on. The sheepskin’s really unique, so it’s an amazing product on your foot, Brady says in the of the Steps commercial.
The NFL’s most valuable player claims to be a long-time n of the ocker brand.
It was always my vourite Christmas present to get. But I’ve been wearing Ugg for a long time, long before this shoot ever took place, he said in an interview during the M&C Saatchi advertising campaign.
The advertisement debuted on ESPN during Monday night’s game between the Patriots and the Miami Dolphins.
Ugg Australia president Constance X. Rishwain said Brady’s endorsement was part of a new tact to market the sheepskin boots to men.
Our goal is to introduce men to the UGG experience through this campaign by pairing the rugged, masculine design sensibility of our collection with the unique comfort you get only when you put your foot inside our shoes and take a few steps, Mr Rishwain said in a release.
The campaign includes a 10 storey high billboard near Madison Square Garden in Manhattcomfortable shoesan, Associated Press reports.
But some commentators were unconvinced of the Australian icon’s new appeal.

It is general knowledge that many women wax lyrically about shoes and can have quite a collection. What is less known is that men can also be quite natical about footwear. Perhaps not in the same way, but men do care what they put on their feet. In certain social environments, you are judged by your shoes. And you thought shoes just covered your feet?

The deeper you enter the subject the more perplexing the topic can become. In todays world of luxury brand management, the topic is multi-layered beyond the balance of black or white or should I say brown. Global and local brands have evolved tremendously over the last 10 years. There is more comfort, more style, and certainly more choice.
It is also not just a question of price. Ready to wear shoes of quality carry significant price tags. However, they allow us access to shoes we will love to wear compared to many of the shoes some of us suffered through as children unless we grew up wearing custom made shoes.
Bespoke shoes have always cost a kings ransom, but what you gain in quality, craftsmanship, and personal detail is beyond price. It becomes an issue of personalised comfort and in certain ways makes a strong statement concerning the persons character, attention to detail and attitude towards life. The luxury lifestyle has always been about uniqueness and special treatment. What could be more unique than a pair of shoes?
In todays market, particularly, ready-to-wear, there are hundreds of brands and styles to choose from. The taste of most men runs to the conservative, however many men are breaking the mould. Just to give you a example, the renowned prt-a-porter shirt maker, Ignatius Joseph, is not just mous for the excellent shirts he manuctures in Italy, but for the red shoes he wears as one of his trademarks.
Berluti, long appreciated in Paris has brought the art of shoe design to another dimension and is partly responsible for the shift in shoe design. Always an innovative firm, the company took to layering different colours into the patina to give their shoes a unique feel and texture. Do you know any other firm, which recommends using champagne and a cashmere cloth to polish their shoes? Talk about mystique, this is hard to beat in terms of luxury and exclusivity.
Many other firms have jumped on the bandwagon although few firms have mastered the technique as well as Berluti. Berluti also sports a ready-to-wear collection of just about every style the company manucturers. By doing so, they can satisfy more people who are not ready to go totally bespoke but still appreciate the finer things in life.
One of the finest styled shoes and arguably one of the best in both bespoke and prt-a-porter is Corthay. I have often spoken about Pierre and his brother Christophe and the passion and integrity these brothers have brought to the art of shoe . Their small shop establishment is more than just a shop; it acts as a club for footwear cognoscenti.
Currently, the brothers have reorganised the firm in order to manucturer more shoes to keep up with global demand. Their expansion and aspirations are reaching new heights as they hope to make both Goodyear and Blake shoes starting this year. The quality of their shoes is clearly outstanding and marks the feet in comfort and style. What every buyer should know whether it is Corthay, Lobb, or Berluti is that the prt-a-porter collections and accessories bring these houses the cash revenue to continue to practice their bespoke art for a smaller clientele. Keeping the tradition of handmade shoes alive in Europe requires financial astuteness and continual strategic planning.
Another firm back in the news in recent years is Churchs. This is a global brand created in 1873, and became recognised as a symbol of English quality and style. Faced with bankruptcy a few years ago, the firm was purchased by an Italian group, which has breathed new life, style, and vigour into this veritable institution. The shoes are still manuctured in Northampton, and thanks to their new strategy have once again become shionable. Traditional Churchs customers will not feel betrayed and the young are streaming into the stores to get the heritage vintage vibe. In Italy the shoes sell like hotcakes, and in the summer many have been seen in their brown brogues, no socks, and slim jeans rolled up just north of the ankle. Who said that style and practicality never go together?
Probably the hottest trend on the street at the moment is the craze for loafers and moccasins. Now for some this shoe never went out of style. However, it has been given a new definition. The young particularly are fond of the suede and bright coloured versions. Check out Tods, who gave the shoe a stylistic licence and you will see why with their rainbow assortment. However, many people want loafers with more than just a sole with rubber nubs. The Blake style shoe is perfect for this. It is easy to slip on and needs no breaking in. Brands such as Ferragamo, Gucci, Borgioli, Crockett &038; Jones, and Georges offer a wide choice.
Suede shoes for summer are perfect. They allow us to shuffle around without wearing sports shoes, are comfortable in the extreme, and allow us to wear colour this summer with the devil may care attitude. The Italians clearly make the most inviting versions.
When I think back to the original loafer manuctured by Bass in the USA in that unique burgundy, I cant help but to think how long it took to break in considering the thickness and stiffness of the leather used. They were robust, but did not give instant comfort. Todays clients want to slip on a pair of shoes with the comfort of glove leather offering accessibility. Shoemakers who cannot provide this level of craftsmanship and quality will be dead in the water.
So what will you be wearing this summer? Now where did I put my blue suede shoes?

Instead of going to the UCH Nursing Supply store to order scrubs as usual, the colorful scrubs and style, along with the comfy shoes, came to all those gathered at the shion show.

The shion show is expected become an annucomfortable shoesal event so UCH nurses can see their co-workers model all the best outfits in person.
